The Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2 (Transtama-GIC 2) tournament will soon be held at the ASIOP Training Ground, Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java from 30 June to 3 July.
The organizing committee of Transtama-GIC 2 hopes that this tournament can become a program of pride for Indonesia.
As many as 32 football academies from five ASEAN countries are ready to show their skills in an international football tournament titled Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2.
The Garuda International Cup is a continuation of the tournament that was previously held in Bandung in 2015.
At that time, the tournament was only attended by the best academies from three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
However, the Transtama-GIC 2 tournament is guaranteed to be even more special because it is joined by five ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.
The Chairman of the GIC 2 Committee, Runie Virgiani, is confident that the Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2, which carries the tagline ‘The Season Is Coming, Lets Have Fun’, will be a program that can make Indonesia proud.
“We want to prove that Indonesia can also make quality international scale tournaments like many other countries abroad, such as the Singa Cup, JSSL, ANZA Cup, Gothia Cup, or Iber Cup.”
“We want Indonesia to have a big youth tournament and make Indonesia proud in the eyes of the world, of course by holding up our icon, the Garuda Cup,” said Runie.

At that time, only the best academies from three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, participated in the tournament.
However, the Transtama-GIC 2 tournament will certainly be more special because five ASEAN countries will participate, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.
“So this tournament will be attended by academies that almost represent several big cities in Indonesia, such as from North Sulawesi United, PSIS, Persib academy, ASIFA Malang, from Safin Pati.”
“So in terms of the quality of the competition it is very good because representatives from various regions and foreign teams will participate,” said Runie at the Transtama-GIC 2 press conference at ATG Sentul, Monday (26/06/2022).
Meanwhile the Transtama-GIC 2 Steering Committee (SC), Novema Andryani hopes that the GIC 2 tournament can revive the energy and passion of Indonesian football after almost three years of being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Hopefully the Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2 can revive the passion for Indonesian football.”
“Moreover, we also have an interesting tagline in Transtama-GIC 2, namely ‘The Season Is Coming, Lets Have Fun’. It means, it’s time for us to rise.”
“Indonesian football must be passionate again and we are all ready to return to normal,” said Novema Andryani.
Vema, Novema’s nickname, is also sure that this tournament will be even more interesting because the Transtama-GIC 2 committee will package this tournament by combining sports and entertainment elements.
“So later at this venue there will be lots of interesting games to play.”
“Besides that, visitors will also be entertained by bands and DJs, then there will also be a bazaar.”
“Also, at the same time we will also be holding a dance competition which will be participated in by several high schools from the Jabodetabek area,” said Vema.
The Transtama-GIC 2 tournament can of course be carried out thanks to the support of sponsors, one of which is Transtama Logistics, which is the main sponsor of this event.
PT Transtama Logistics Board of Directors, Elen Bundiyanto, said that his party supports this tournament because they realize that Indonesia has many talented young footballers who must continue to get a place to compete.
Elen also hopes that through the Transtama-GIC 2 tournament, she can increase the experience and knowledge of young Indonesian players.
“Football tournaments always attract spectators from all walks of life. And the presence of the best clubs from within the country and abroad will add to the excitement of this international tournament.”
“I am sure that this program can be a program that the Indonesian people are proud of.”
“Especially in celebrating the 25th anniversary of Transtama this year, we want to show our contribution to Indonesia,” said Elen.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the MPR RI as well as Advisor for the Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2 event, Bambang Soesatyo, admitted that he fully supports this tournament.
He hopes that the Transtama-GIC 2 tournament can give birth to many great footballers to strengthen the Indonesian National Team.
“Through this event, young footballers can not only hone individual skills and team cohesiveness, but also hone their mental abilities to compete against teams from other countries.”
“Through this event, it is hoped that it will give birth to many great footballers who will not only enliven the tournament, but can also strengthen the Indonesian National Football Team,” said Bamsoet.
