The Transtama-Garuda International Cup 2 (Transtama-GIC 2) early age group soccer party will soon be held at the ASIOP Training Ground, Sentul, on June 30-July 3. This tournament involves five ASEAN countries with Indonesia as the host.

There are also age groups that are contested are U-12 and U-17. A total of 32 teams took part in Transtama-GIC 2, including the best soccer academies from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam.

The 32 academies consist of 16 teams in the U-17 category, including ASIOP, ASIFA, Safin Pati, North Sulawesi United, FABD (Brunei), Woodlands Warriors FC (Singapore), SID FC Kelantan (Malaysia), Central Visayas (Philippines), and BLISPI Student National Team

While 16 others are in the U-12 group, such as PSIS Development, Persib Karawang Academy, Elang Mas Sriwijaya, Next Bali Generation, Best FC (Malaysia), AUFC (Malaysia), and ASIOP which incidentally acts as the host.

The Head of the Transtama-GIC 2 Committee, Runie Virgiani, believes that the tournament, which carries the motto ‘The Season Is Coming, Lets Have Fun’, can make Indonesia proud. The reason, of course, is because it accommodates young potential footballers to feel the atmosphere on an international scale.

“We want to prove that Indonesia can also hold quality international scale tournaments such as the Singa Cup, JSSL, ANZA Cup, Gothia Cup, or Iber Cup,” said Runie Virgiani to the media crew, Monday (27/6/22).

“We want Indonesia to have a big youth tournament as well as being proud of our country in the eyes of the world. Of course, by bringing up its own national icon, namely Garuda,” said Runie.

Meanwhile, the Steering Committee of Transtama-GIC 2, Novema Andryani, confirmed that this grand event has a long-term projection that it is possible to hold it once a year, and even become a kind of Indonesian-style Gothia Cup.
